How else will we get people to not use their cars other than increase the cost! We're up in North Hertfordshire, so it was quite a trek.</p> <p>It's a journey we've done before and is about 115 miles.</p> <p>In my car, which works out to around £0.32p per mile, including insurance, tax, MOT, etc. So that equates to £73.60 for a car journey which takes 2 hours each way.</p> <p>This time we thought we'd give the train a try. It cost £32.50 each (£97.50) and took three and a half hours!
